LPGA at Seaview Bay
The LPGA ShopRite Classic has a long standing history. Being played nearly 40 years, it has been known as the opening of summer, and been a stage for future lpga superstars to meet the fans, and even post a low number.
This year was different for me. I was no longer going as a patron. I was part of the show. Being part of golf media has shown me that the industry welcomes passionate storytellers. When I applied to cover the event as a photographer, I knew I wasn’t a “professional” sports photojournalist, but I needed to act like one.
Gaining ‘Inside the Ropes’ access was something I did not take lightly. Understanding that I needed to be in certain positions, and provide a different level of golfer etiquette.
I went on the second practice round (Tuesday) to get my bearings, practice some shots, and learn where I would be following players on the tournament round. This was key for me so there was no decision searching when it mattered. I was able to stay present, in the zone, and ready to jump to another position for a shot I may find interesting.
